New Year’s Resolutions

It is that time of the year when we all set and go forward with our resolutions for the new year. Well, we at least think about them and attempt them to a certain degree.  This year, I hope that we all stick to our guns and succeed!

Setting goals and sticking to them can be daunting. The key is to make realistic goals, ones that are above your comfort level but do not set you up for failure from the very beginning. Once you set your main goals, it is important to break those goals into baby steps. Every time you complete a baby step, reward yourself! Incentives are a great way to keep you motivated to keep going in order to conquer your goals.

My New Year’s Resolutions for Myrna Loy Photography…

Go big or go home! Since I have had to quit my job due to my pregnancy and not being able to work with the chemicals in the work environment, I have dedicated all my time on my photography business.  My goal is to make this my full time job for 2014 and meet lots of new clients and business partners.

Provide top of the line, custom service for every client. Period.  I have a whole new process this year.  This year my clients should plan to be pampered!  You can read more about the new experience HERE.  This is going to be so much fun!!

Start a new project for fun! I have had the pleasure of joining a group of photographers all over the the world and doing a Project 52.  Not sure what this is?  Well, it is just awesome!  You can read about this project HERE.   I have attempted to do this sort of project once on my own but didn’t stick with it.  With the motivation of the other awesome photogs I feel that this is going to be a lot of fun and will make for a successful project this go around.

Weddings!  This year I plan on adding in weddings as part of MLP.  I would love to have the honor to second shoot with some pretty awesome photographers in the city.  I just love weddings!

Get published!   I plan to enter my photos and sessions in order to get published on other websites and maybe even magazines.  A little fun fact you didn’t already know…I had one of my photos published in a local magazine back home (NC) for local real estate agents in 2007.  It was a photo of the agent and his two daughters on the beach.  Cool eh?!

Blog more.  Throughout 2014, I would love to bring you all kinds of different things, not just photos of my sessions but fun things too.  Maybe some DIY projects, photo of the week for Project 52, fashion ideas for your session, favor ideas, personal projects and stories, etc.  I am still putting together my blog calender but in the mean time go ahead and subscribe to my newsletter to get VIP access to get updates of new material and information on promotional offers.

Time Management!  With our first born child on the way (due March 27, 2014), I want to be able to manage my time between photography and my family.  My time with our baby girl is precious and I want to cherish as much of it as possible.  I hear that they grow up fast.  Oh I can’t wait to hold her!

So I have officially spilled the beans on some of my goals in my photography business to all of you.  Scary, but we are friends right?  So who cares! 😉

What are some of your resolutions for the year 2014??

Time Management is key for sure! I am trying to make sure that everything, both business and personal, is written down in my planner immediately. Hoping this will keep me on track! Good luck to you with your time management plans!
