This styled session all began while chatting it up with a fellow photographer from North Dakota. Chesly, owner of Creations by Chelsy Photography, mentioned she was coming to Las Vegas and we knew we just had to shoot together. First we had to think of the theme, which started out as 1920’s Gangster. After lots of research there were so many different styles during that time period. We decided on the Great Gatsby theme. To prepare myself I watched the original movie, as well as the newer remake.
After finalizing the Great Gatsby style, I started shopping for the perfect outfits for our models, Dallas and Stacia. I found this vintage clothing store that was liquidating and closing, they had pretty much every decade you could think of. It was awesome to see all kinds of unique pieces that once was a popular trend. There were two dresses that really popped, one was this beautiful red sequence flapper style dress. Both dresses were amazing, but this red dress, oh my this red dress. I fell in love and sent Chelsy a photo to get her opinion. With a 70% off price tag, this baby was mine! Her dress was the main piece in which I built the rest of the clothing from. The head piece was made by a dear friend of mine, Heather. (By the way, she owns Heather’s Sweets Boutique and is ah-may-zing!) She did a fab job! The suit was designed, rent, and altered by Tuxedo Junction. If you need a suit or tux while in Las Vegas, this is the place to go – seriously the best! They do same day alterations and have a ton of awesome choices! The sales guy that assisted me really knew what he was doing. He was very knowledgeable on the different trends throughout the different eras and was able to put together this super fly suit. It was perfect!
The day of the session came and I picked Chelsy up from her hotel and we drove out to the desert. As I made a stop for gas, I locked my keys in my car!!! Gosh I am such a klutz – go me! 😉 After waiting for a locksmith and hefty $200 bill later, we were finally on our way to photograph this awesome couple. I am so in love with this session and I can’t wait until the next styled session!
