Why I No Longer Offer Short Sessions Year Round

After over a decade of photographing families, I’ve learned what creates truly meaningful images. As a Las Vegas family photographer, my goal has always been to give your family a calm, natural, connection-filled experience. Over time, I realized that short sessions simply don’t support that. Your family deserves more than rushed minutes and a ticking clock.

Kids (and Husbands) Need Time to Warm Up

Most families assume short sessions work best, but the opposite is usually true. Kids need time to explore, get comfortable, and warm up to a camera aimed at them. Husbands and introverts often do too.

And here is what I see again and again.
Right around the halfway point, everyone finally settles in. Kids are laughing, parents relax, and the sweetest moments begin to unfold. But with a short session, that is exactly when the time runs out. It feels abrupt, and it breaks my heart to stop just as your family is opening up.

Longer sessions allow us to keep going when the magic starts, not stop right as it arrives.

Why I Stepped Away From Short Sessions

When I moved to Las Vegas, offering short sessions year round felt like the norm as most photographers here offer it. But the more families I photographed, the clearer it became that short sessions didn’t match the heart of my work.

Connection based photography needs space.
It needs play, movement, gentle direction, and the freedom to settle in.
It also needs time for kids to regroup if needed. A quick snack or reset can make all the difference, and that supportive rhythm simply isn’t possible when the session is rushed.

I want your session to feel peaceful. I want your gallery to feel full. Longer sessions allow both.

The Signature Experience

The time we spend together is flexible, generally around 60 to 90 minutes. No racing against the clock. This gives us room to ease in naturally, enjoy warm light, take small breaks when needed, and let genuine moments unfold. This is what creates depth, variety, and emotion in your gallery.

Short sessions simply don’t support this style year round, and I want to give your family the best experience possible

Why I Chose Simplicity

For the last couple years I offered minis, half sessions, and full sessions Eventually I realized that simplicity creates a calmer, more intentional experience.

Choosing one storytelling session means:

  • you always know what to expect
  • your family never feels rushed
  • your gallery is complete and cohesive
  • the process is clear and enjoyable
  • you receive consistent, high quality family photography in Las Vegas

Simplicity supports both of us.

What About Minis

I still offer seasonal shorter sessions, but only a couple times a year. These are designed for families who want a quick update, not a storytelling session. Because they are limited, they always book quickly. You can join my email list below for first access.

A Final Note From My Heart

This shift wasn’t made to limit your choices, but to give your family a better, calmer, and more meaningful experience. It was made because your memories matter. Your children deserve time to warm up. You deserve a session that feels peaceful and unrushed. And your gallery deserves to feel full of real connection.

I can’t wait to create something timeless with you.
