Before we ever met at the location, mom filled out her questionnaire. When I asked what she hoped the session would feel like, she said: natural, fun, sweet, and loving. Just how they are as a family on a day to day.
And boy did we get that.
Corn Creek for Photo Sessions
Corn Creek is one of those locations that stops people mid-scroll.
It’s lush. Green. Tucked away. And it looks nothing like what most people picture when they think “Las Vegas family photos.”
It’s also permit-only. Not every photographer can shoot here. I hold the required permits, which means you get access to one of the most beautiful, least-photographed spots in the valley.
No crowds. No chaos. Just your family and this incredible backdrop.
The Session
Mom told me she wanted to look back on this time and remember her baby girl as a baby. The beginning of their family. All of it.
That stayed with me the whole session. As a mom myself, who constantly wonders where that time went, I get it.
Dad held her up and she squealed. Mom smiled from joy the whole time. They walked, they played, they forgot a camera was there. Looking back at the images, I can’t tell who had more fun!
She mentioned he wasn’t exactly a willing participant when it came to photos. Doesn’t love being in front of a camera. But look at him. That’s not a man performing for a lens. That’s a dad who is completely present with his kid.
That’s what guided prompts do. They get people out of their heads and into the moment.
We slowed down. We played. We let the light do its thing.
The details. The ones that seem small and won’t feel small in ten years.
She told me she loves his smile. That it’s bright and genuine and their baby has the exact same one. Looking at these photos, I believe her.
